Maylin's Story

My passion is softball.

Since I was eight years old I have always loved playing softball. For me, playing softball provided me with an opportunity to meet new people and develop leadership skills which I have been able to use in school. Attending US Sports Nike Softball Camp will help me pursue my passion for softball in different ways. The first and most obvious way is that it will expose me to what college life actually is. Another way is that it will allow me to improve on my game and softball skills. Being able to attend this camp will allow me to continue to grow as a scholar athlete and provide me opportunities to be on a university campus.

A Note from Ms. Maccarone, Maylin's Counselor

Maylin is an exceptional young lady who is motivated and driven to do well. Despite her limited financial resources, Maylin has always sought out opportunities to learn and grow both academically and personally. She will be the first in her family to complete college. When this program was presented to Maylin she immediately sought me out as her advisor and said she knew this would give her the opportunity to pursue her dream of going to college. She shared hopes of being able to make her family proud and finish something her father had started but was unable to do.
