When studying at the Peridance Capezio Center this summer, I took modern,  contemporary ballet, jazz, and Seminar. In Seminar, I learned about the correct way to take care of my body. I also learned the correct way to take care of injuries and to prevent them. This program taught me a lot. It changed my whole thinking about ballet from something I once hated to something I now love. The teachers love what they do and what they teach. I recommend this program to everyone because it has given me confidence in my art form. I am so grateful to have gotten this opportunity.

I want to look back at my life, smile, and see something to be proud of. There is a quest to find out what you love and who you are as a dancer. Trying new techniques and seeing what you like and what you don’t is key to understanding who you are. By entering this program I hope to gain a better understanding of who I am as a dancer. I am excited about meeting other teachers as well as kids my age with the same passion as me. I am anxious to try new things such as pointe, Pilates, and different types of modern that I have never taken before. I am eagerly ready to obtain knowledge on certain genre’s for instance, jazz. I am most excited about gaining flexibility and improving from this intensive. I am nervous about pointe because it will be my first pointe class. My goals are to become a better dancer technically, and being college ready for auditions. Another goal is to have taken a pointe class before college. One of my priorities is to improve my recall. Recalling combinations is one of my weaknesses. I am determined to overcome it by recapping combinations before starting them and not being scared to ask questions. Overall, I am beyond excited about becoming a better dancer, and improving recall as well as technique and getting ready for college applications to ensure acceptance to college B.F.A programs.
