My passion is art.
I have been fascinated with art, specifically cartoons, since kindergarten. The visual aesthetic of cartoons and the animation flow made me wonder, "How did that work?", every time I watched a CGI animated film in theaters. I have hoped to better understand the "how" ever since that time.
For me, my inspiration has always been fictional characters from a cartoon or a 3D animated film. One day, I hope to put my own fictional characters out there to inspire a young audience the same way that I was inspired since the very early years of my life.
By attending NYIT Summer Workshop in Fine Arts, I will learn the skills necessary to make my characters come to life. I have hope that I can share my love for the universe of animation, inspiring someone out there to think, "I want to do that!"
"Ana is an amazing young woman. She puts 100% into everything that she does and whenever she can use her skill as an artist she does. We don't, however, have a lot of resources for her in the school to pursue her skills further, so I believe this is her chance to work with professionals in order to learn new techniques and improve upon the skills she already has.
Last year we got a new pet for our classroom, a fancy rat named Cloudy. Once Ana found out that the students assigned to our rat weren't taking good care of her, she volunteered, or rather insisted, that she be able to take care of Cloudy in the mornings before school, during lunch, and at the end of the day. Ana soon found out that there was a much healthier food for Cloudy, and on her own time baked cupcakes and sold them in a bake sale to raise the funds for the rat's new special diet."
During my experience at NYIT’s Pre-College Program, I had unexpected experiences that I thought I would never have. As a start, the work and assignments given were so much fun to complete, not to mention the humor that me, the students, and even the staff members had together while working. Imagine laughing and talking with your classmates and professors while doing the work you love; that was an amazing experience of mine.
When we had our lunch breaks (from lunch cards thanks to NYIT), I made tons of great friends from the city and outside of the city. Personally, I think that the special memories I made with my friends were what made the program be of great quality. A program is fun when it’s work you’re passionate about, but having friends that have the same passion as you just makes it even more special. Even though we all had a great time working on our fun projects, each classmate had a personality that made them unique and stand out from everyone else.
I loved everything about NYIT’s Pre-College Summer Workshop. The Graphic Designing program was something that made me feel so passionate and confident that it's the field I hope to study as a career. The friendship I had with everyone was so bold, we all got along instantly, as if we had been friends for a long time. A week of this workshop felt like a long time because I enjoyed both the work and the friendships.
I have been an aspiring art student for as long as I can remember, and now I will finally be attending a program. This program is the "NYIT Summer Workshop of Fine Arts", and what makes me extremely excited is that I am able to expand the horizons of my artwork and see how far my abilities can go. Specifically, I will be using my art skills in Graphic Designing. NYIT will definitely help my art career for college and also in the future, because this is something I definitely wish to pursue and experience. I am extremely excited for not just the fun work they will assign, but also meeting new people with similar interests and overall the fun of working with myself and others.
It was hard for me to find a summer program that would help me expand my art interest, however Wishbone helped me find NYIT, the perfect summer workshop for Graphic Design. I am super excited to attend the NYIT Summer Workshop, and I'd like to thank Wishbone for helping me find this program.
Ana, I can't wait to hear about you pursuing your passion in art.
If you haven't already, check out The Pixar Story (http://www.amazon.com/The-Pixar-Story-Leslie-Iwerks/dp/B006RZZOCQ), it's a great movie about the founding team of Pixar, who were just as passionate about cartoons and animation as you.
