My passion is medicine. My overall goal is to cure diseases like cancer which has taken down millions of people and has no cure. Seeing people die from diseases like breast or lung cancer is heartbreaking not only because of the death itself, but because we have nothing to do about it. Attending Adelphi Winthrop Summer Science Institute will help me understand science and medicine better and get me on the path to becoming a surgeon. Doing hands on activities with surgical dummies will help me build the skills I need in order to deal with patients. Being around other people with the same goal/dream as me will push me to strive to make a change in medical science.
Khaylah is a remarkable young scientist who has a drive and enthusiasm for science that set her above her peers and whose natural knack for medicine and for biology will make her an exceptional candidate for Adelphi Winthrop Summer Science Institute. Khaylah is a student who has a singular passion for medicine and for science that is beyond the level of focus I have seen in any science student in any grade level previously. Her habits of inquiry, of discovering and explaining answers, and a continuous push for improvement in her scientific vernacular will get her far in her career, and I know she will be an eager participant in this summer program. Though Khaylah has the passion and the intelligence required by applicants, she does not normally have access to programs or opportunities like this one to build her passion even more. I am 100% convinced that if given this chance, Khaylah will use her time fully and will be the top participant in her cohort.
