My passion is Math.
I discovered my passion for math long before I can remember. Each year for Christmas and my birthday I would ask my family to buy me math practice books as presents. Math has always come easily to me, and I have always found it to be therapeutic to find a solution to a problem you have been working on.
Lauren is a good candidate for Brown Summer@ Brown because of her consistent work ethic and determination. She devotes an immense amount of time, energy, and thought into all of her educational endeavors. Lauren participates in numerous extra curricular activities; she dances for both a studio and preprofessional company, she has two part time jobs, she is a member of FBLA, she is the student representative of the PTO, and she continues to maintain a 4.1 GPA. Her dedication to and excellence in school despite a busy schedule makes her stand out in the classroom. Brown Summer@ Brown would be beneficial to Lauren because it would give her the opportunity to explore the multitude of options she will face come next year when applying to colleges. This program will be instrumental in helping her choose the next step in her educational path.
I had an absolutely amazing time and made unforgettable memories at Brown. I met people from around the world (including France, Germany, England, the Philippines, the Virgin Islands, China, Thailand, Brazil, Turkey and more). I tried new food that I definitely wouldn't find in East Hartford, and I learned so much in class. I got to experience the balance between living the college life and taking a rigorous college course. My class reassured me that I do indeed want to enter the math field after high school. Without the support of Wishbone and my donors, the last two weeks could have never happened. Thank you so much for this opportunity.
I am so excited to attend Brown Summer@ Brown in a few months. 69 days but who's counting?
