Leena's Story

My passion is writing.

My passion for writing was discovered as I was entering the eighth grade. I quickly realized that I loved writing stories and sharing them with my classmates. I noticed how everyone would react differently to my stories. The Connecticut Writing Project Summer Labs program will give me the opportunity to develop my skills and knowledge to become a better storyteller.

A Note from Ms. Klingler, Leena's Teacher

Leena accepts the challenge of new experiences that will elevate her skills and competence starting with her choice in high schools. When Leena applied to our school, she said yes to the challenge of a fast-paced learning environment, acquiring skills for a field dominated by men. She has seen students from diverse nationalities, citizenship, socioeconomic statuses, and beliefs unite in an inter-district magnet school. This impacting experience shaped Leena's passion for writing.

Post Program

This program has helped me not only in my writing but in my reading in identifying characters and being able to pull their traits out and examining them! My writing has grown stronger through this a lot and I learned a lot! I met nice new people and it was nice to meet them and get feedback from many different people about my writing!

Pre-attendance

First, I want to thank the Wishbone Community, everyone who donated to my campaign, and to my advocate for being there for me every step of this journey. I am so extremely excited and blessed to have this opportunity. I really feel like this will benefit me in a positive way. I'm looking to strengthen my writing skills and building up character in stories that I write. I am looking forward to spending time with different people in my age group to learn and possible share techniques with them.
