Tony's Story

My passion is applied math.

Entering into high school as a freshman for the first time, I began to struggle in math. My strongest class had always been science, and I thought that math would come naturally to me. I slowly began to understand that if I wanted to improve, I would have to put in the work, and ultimately needed math for Game Design. My older brother said that if I wanted to get better in math, I needed to study. Listening to my brother’s advice, I took summer math classes to improve my scores. After two months, I passed my algebra regents exam, and entered as a sophomore into a more advanced math track. After my experience at summer school, math has become one of my favorite subjects. I’m excited to keep learning and take on more challenges.

Working with Parson's Pre-College Academy will give me the opportunity to improve my math, design, and coding skills. I am interested in artificial intelligence, software engineering, computer networking, game design, and computer-human interaction. I also would like to improve my coding skills in the hopes of enrolling in AP Computer Science at my school next year. The class would help expand my thinking and support my efforts to eventually become a chemical engineer. I don't yet have any coding knowledge, but I am very excited to try and to share my experience with others.
