I discovered my passion for biology around the same time we started learning about the human body. We were covering everything from organ systems, to how cells work, and how all these different parts of the body come together to work in unison. The whole thing was mind blowing to me, and I enjoyed every challenge that came our way. I have always loved working with children as well, so as we got deeper into anatomy lessons, I decided I should become a pediatrician.
Attending Envision NYLF Medicine will help me pursue my passion with a hands on opportunity to experience what it would be like working in healthcare. I would also get to learn about different types of medicines, and would be learning directly from those who are professionals already. These classes all take place on a college campus, so I would also have the chance to experience what life will be like after high school. This would be a great opportunity for me to learn more about the medical field and prepare myself for life ahead.
Shannel is one of the most gifted students that I have ever worked with. She comes from the inner-city of Bridgeport, CT and is dedicated each and every day to travel by bus and train to get to school far away from her home to attend school. She is an academically capable student and is enrolled in several Honors and Advanced Placement courses. Her work ethic is impressive and she is willing to take risks to be more successful in and out of the classroom. In addition, she is a mature student with excellent social skills and mannerisms. She will listen, observe, and ask intelligent questions. She will benefit from this program whether she continues on to study medicine in college, or not. She will have the opportunity to speak with surgeons, practice procedures, hear lectures from pioneers in medicine, and get an idea of what it takes to become a medical professional.
I would like to thank everyone that donated to my campaign to make it possible for me to attend Envision NYLF Medicine Program. I am very excited to get an experience of what it would be like living on campus and learning about my future career path in the Medical Field.
