Tyrik's Story

My passion is basketball. Ever since I was young, playing basketball was always an escape from reality. The reality for me was seeing my neighborhood withering to non-existence. So every time my sneakers touch the concrete pavement or court, my dreams of being the best become real, and all of my struggles magically erase. In my opinion, basketball became more than a game to me; it saved my life from being another disturbing statistic. Overall, basketball is life.

Attending the Chelsea Piers Basketball Camp will help me pursue my passion and love for basketball by giving me a different experience and type of training. In particular, living in a less fortunate area, a basketball opportunity like this is unheard of and rare. Moreover, my attendance at this camp will not only support my dream of being a pro-basketball player but will also enable me to make plenty of new friends.
