My passion is art. I've been drawing since the age of 5. At the age of 12, I considered the idea of turning my hobby into a profession. I was inspired by comic strips found in magazines and the illustrations in picture books I read as a child. As I started drawing cartoon characters and other concepts that interested me at the time, I found an even larger interest in drawing people and fantastical subjects. Since then, I've been pushing for opportunities to improve myself in the area of drawing and illustration.
Attending Syracuse Summer College 2D Art Studio will help expand my education in art further into subjects like painting printmaking, and perhaps even digital mediums. As much as I can study and learn on my own time, a more formal education will benefit the already developing interest I have in illustration. I have to learn the theory behind art concepts before I can begin to apply them.
Syracuse Summer College 2D Art Studio would be an absolutely incredible opportunity for Indus. He is already working at a level beyond the typical high school student, and with advanced focused support surrounded by others who are just as passionate about him, I feel he will be catapulted into a new level of achievement. We have limited materials available, and he has taken them to an advanced level - I can only imagine what he will accomplish with additional resources! Syracuse will be a great environment for Indus, as he is academically-minded and a conscientious student with a very bright future ahead of him.
