My passion is science.
While attending The East Harlem School, I developed my love and passion for science. Our science classes were very hands-on; we did a lot of experiments and learned about many different topics. I was very intrigued by chemistry because we learned about chemical reactions, bonds and about the periodic table. We also learned about the scientist John Dalton who created the atomic theory and J.J Thomson who discovered electrons. There are many other scientists who contributed to the Atomic Theory, and it was interesting to learn all about them. Therefore, as I learned more about science, I became more and more passionate about it.
Attending Georgetown Institutes: Forensic Science will help me to further develop my passion for science by exposing me to more advanced science classes. I would want to gain more knowledge on scientific topics and use it in the future. I feel that studying in a different environment would give me the chance to express my thoughts and gain experience for college. I would like to work in the medical field one day, and I believe this program will give me a great start in achieving that goal.

She takes every available opportunity to further her knowledge. She also consistently attends our Saturday School program, tutoring younger students as well as her peers in science.
Alejandra is a great candidate for Georgetown Institutes: Forensic Science because she is a bright and dedicated young woman. She puts forth great effort in all that she does and is always eager to help and learn. Attending such a rigorous program would undoubtedly further develop her passion for the sciences and prepare her for future courses."
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend Georgetown’s Forensic Science program. I learned a lot about computer forensics, terrorism investigations, blood spatter, and more. Every day we had interactive lectures with many guest speakers who worked in agencies and are detectives. For example, Dr. Vincze is a professor of forensic sciences at The George Washington University. She talked about criminal justice and many different workshops around the world. She also talked about how technology can be used in criminal activity and how it could be prevented. Another inspiring speaker, Colonel Susan Hanshaw, served twenty-nine years in the military and as the Director of Medicolegal education and training. She talked about her lifestyle and went through step by step what she does in her job. I was actually surprised because I didn't know that Forensic Science had so many different components. Later throughout that week, we went to several museums, but the one that most appealed to me was the International Spy Museum. We got a firsthand experience of being a real spy, and we had to use the knowledge that we've previously learned in class to figure out the clues and to pass to the next level. Not only did I learn new information about Forensic Science, but I also made amazing friends. My roommate was from Wisconsin, and it was so cool meeting someone from a different place and having a lot in common. This experience made me one hundred percent sure that I want to pursue Forensic science in the future and become a Forensic scientist.
The program that I will be attending this summer is Georgetown Forensic Science. I am very excited to be attending this amazing program because I will get to see first hand what forensics scientists do. I choose this program because in the future I want to be a forensic scientist, and I feel like this program would really help me accomplish my goal. Over this summer, I'm looking forward to meeting lawyers, judges, and actual forensics scientists and talk about their daily lifestyles and how their jobs affect daily life and their community.
