Xitlaly's Story

My passion is writing.

I remember discovering my passion for writing when I was young. I think that attending San Jose Area Writing Project Teen institute will help me pursue my passion for writing by teaching me things about writing and new techniques that I never knew before. This is a great opportunity for me because I could learn how to be a better storyteller. I can't wait to spend this summer learning about something that I am so passionate about.

A Note from Ms. Maharaj, Xitlaly's Teacher

At Impact Academy, we have a class period called Advisory that is mostly student run. Students volunteer and sign up to lead specific activities and roles. Every role that Xitlaly has volunteered to do, she executes them well, with or without the support of her classmates.

Thank You

My name is Xitlaly, and I am going to be participating in the San Jose's Teen Writing Program this summer. I am really excited to be joining the program because it will give me the time to write. I feel that I rarely have the time to let my creative side out while I'm at school and home, because I'm so busy all the time. I think that this program will help me stay true to my passion and help my begin the stories that I have wanted to start writing.

I am looking forward to working with other people my age and sharing ideas and advice with one another. I chose this program because I have loved writing ever since elementary and I constantly think of little story ideas. I believe that participating in this program will help me decide on whether or not I want to major in creative writing when I grow up or not.
