Julianne's Story

My passion is singing.

I discovered my passion for musical theatre the day of my 14th birthday. It was on that day, that my mom decided to surprise me by taking me to see The Lion King on Broadway. It was by far one of the best experiences of my life. The actors sang, acted, and danced so beautifully that I was in awe during the whole performance and my eyes never strayed from the stage. After it was over, I vowed to work hard to achieve my goal of dancing, singing, acting on a stage and inspiring many other people to pursue their dreams.

Attending Broadway Dance Center will help me explore my passion because it will help shape and improve my dance skills and meet individuals with a similar passion as mine. Broadway shows such as Wicked, The Lion King, Hairspray, and many others have always inspired me to learn in greater depth about how to act, sing, and dance like many Broadway legends do. After watching videos of students at Broadway Dance Center dancing and doing what they love, it encouraged me to learn different types of dances, as well. Being able to stand on a Broadway stage is one of my lifetime goals and Broadway Dance Center can help me achieve it.

A Note from Ms. Clark, Julianne's Teacher

Despite limited resources, Julianne has continued to explore her passion in a multitude of ways. She has gone above and beyond to stand out this year as a candidate for the school's Vocal Major program - a high school program in which students who are selected study and perform music. She went out of her way to be on time, come prepared and assist other students who needed help.

Additionally, as a freshman, Julianne went out on a limb to audition for the school musical. While freshman students are rarely given roles, this did not stop her. She gave it her all and landed a role among the upperclassmen. Outside of this, Julianne practices whenever she gets the opportunity! I have not seen a student so dedicated to the craft. However, she has not had formal training - this program would only elevate her dedication and allow her to reach her maximum potential.
