My passion is music.
Music became my passion when I was seven years old and my mother picked me up from school and took me directly to a music school without telling me first. She had signed me up for classes, convinced that music was something I would be good at. Turns out, she was right; I picked up piano pretty quickly. I understood how to read notes fast, and rhythmic patterns started to become second nature to me. Over the years, I began to master the piano and have learned to incorporate it in my high school life.
Attending Hotchkiss Piano Program will help me grow my passion by allowing me to bond with others who have a similar love for piano. Additionally, I will be challenged by students and teachers with way more experience than me in piano. Due to a family situation, I stopped going to music school over four years ago. This program will return me to the social and intellectual environment I once enjoyed and am still craving.
"Aaron is a great candidate for the Hotchkiss Summer Program. Not only does he have a love for piano that would grow with this experience, but he's a pleasant, outgoing young man who would really enjoy two weeks with students who share his passion for the piano. He has very few opportunities to play piano at our school; there are no music classes and the keyboarding club no longer exists. In order for Aaron to really practice and pursue his talent for piano, he would have to attend lessons outside of school, which is not possible for his family at this time. This is Aaron's opportunity to explore his passion even further and I truly hope he is given this chance."
Thank you for all who donated to me. With your donations, I was able to attend The Hotchkiss Piano Portals, which was in Interlaken, Connecticut. At my time at Hotchkiss, I was able to be around people of different ethnic backgrounds who shared their musical skills with me. It was amazing. They were so nice, and willing to learn from me and get to know me as a person. There were Master classes, private lessons, basketball, football, movie night, it was amazing. I would definitely recommend that anyone who loves the piano (and who's good at it) come to Hotchkiss to learn and meet new people. I met people from Brazil, China, France, Japan, and even people from Brooklyn, where I'm from myself. But overall, I want to say thank you!
I chose to go to Hotchkiss Piano Portal this summer. Now, you're probably asking yourself, why did Aaron choose this piano program out of all the others? I chose this program because I've been playing the piano for eight years now, and I've grown really strong in learning the instrument. Unfortunately, for the past 4 years my family has been unable to send me to proper piano school, since the one I went to prior didn't provide me with the necessary skills to master the instrument because I was learning so quickly for my age. Therefore, they took me out of the music school and have been struggling to find me a decent music school to further my studies. When I saw this program on the Wishbone website, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to further my studies in the instrument I'm so talented in. I am super excited to go to Connecticut this summer to further my studies and be surrounded by others who just as talented, or even more talented, in the instrument like I am.
Always believe in your ability, and trust in God...
Go Aaron! I'm so glad you continue to play piano. Have a wonderful time!
I wish you all the best in pursing your passion.
Go fulfill your dreams, remember that you can do all things through Christ.
Good Luck Kiddo. I hope you achieve your goal. Best Wishes
Whatsoever your hands find themselves to do, do it with all of your might and nothing short of excellence is your reward! keep up the awesome work!!
Best of Luck!!
Aaron I love you very much. All the best love from Ashley and Asha as well.
Good luck Aaron.
I was a piano major at UGA in the early 60's, and it was a lifelong gift to be immersed in classical music for 4 full years. It will never leave your soul or your heart, and it will enrich your life forever! Pvnb
