My passion is medicine.
My passion for medicine stared when I was little. At that time, I thought that it was just something that called my attention, but as I got older I realized that it's something that I want to be involved in for the rest of my life. I always have been very close to my older sister, her influence has had a big impact on my life and my goals. She is always inspiring me to try new things. She is a registered nurse in El Salvador, but she also has many degrees in the medical field. I was always with her and I grew up hearing great things about medicine, like the satisfaction that she felt when she went to villages where they don't have any kind of medical assistance. As I get older I feel that I can make a difference in people's lives.
Lina is a good candidate for the program at Brown for many reasons. First, when Lina identifies something that she is interested in, it is always something that she has a passion for and immerses herself in the work. In conjunction with the theme of the program being in medicine and the sciences, this will benefit Lina both academically and socially. I think that it will strengthen her desires and motivate her to continue to pursue studying a career in medicine for this program provides opportunities that nothing at East Hartford High School or the surround area can afford. Plus, she will bring back experiences with her to East Hartford High School which will enrich classroom discussion and fellow peer interest. Finally, not only will Lina grow as a person from participating in this program, but she will make positive contributions that will benefit her peers as well.
I will be participating in the Psychology and Health program at Brown University this summer. I am really excited about joining the program because I will learn about how the biological, cultural, social and environmental influences on health. I chose this program because I believe it will be very helpful to me to decide what career do I want to pursuit in my future. I am looking forward to meeting new people with which we can share our passion about medicine.
