Abdulyekinni's Story

I discovered my passion for basketball when I was 5 years old. I had a small yellow Spongebob basketball, and I was dribbling it at the basketball court across the street from my house. While dribbling there, I never really aspired to be in the NBA but I just loved the game. When I got to 5th grade, it became one of my priorities. In the 5th grade, I went to the PAL in Harlem to play basketball and work on my skills. Through that, I was able to get shooting and my accuracy up, and my dribbling improved. I was able to make the team in 8th grade and then proceeded to make the JV team in 9th and 10th.

US Sports Nike Basketball Camp will help me pursue my passion because it will allow me to build my skills on the basketball court. Giving me this experience will prepare me for years in basketball.

A Note from Mr. Bohack, Abdulyekinni's Teacher

Abdulyekinni is a very well rounded young man and he needs to be influenced by more young men like him. He is a joy to teach because of his enthusiasm and dedication to history. The more time he spends with other hard working people, the more he can achieve. Attending US Sports Nike Basketball Camp will allow Adbulyekinni this time.

My post-attendance update

The Nike Basketball Camp at Caldwell, University was a great a experience. This camp was no normal basketball camp it was a camp that allowed kids of different ages and cultural backgrounds to connect, while at the same time having fun playing the game that we love. I will personally say that I enjoyed the camp because not only did the camp give me tools to become a better basketball player, it made me a better person. It taught me how to be empathetic and also tolerant. The Nike Basketball Camp at Caldwell University is a great camp and I would love to go again. This will be a camp that I will recommend to anybody.

Excitement

This Nike Sports basketball camp has given me a lot of excitement for this summer. I am excited because this camp is giving me the chance to showcase my skills in front of famous coaches. Being trained by coaches who know best lets me know I am at the right place. I am also excited because I just enjoy playing basketball in general. Anytime I play basketball, jitters of excitement overwhelm me. This is why I am very happy and looking forward to this program.
