My passion is stopping injustice.
I am originally from South Africa. Having moved to the United States in 2005, when I was seven, I still remember a good amount of my life there. Anyone 20 years or older can remember Apartheid and its massive effect on the world. I come from a legacy of those who were saddled with circumstances that did not favor them simply because of the way they were born. I am saddened to the deepest degree when I observe preventable injustice in the world, and let's be clear: all injustice is preventable.
My current goal is to achieve something in the name of justice. My idea is that I would like to work on political, social, and economical discrepancies in my country of origin or at least in representation of it. I believe very firmly that the problems of the world can be fixed. Studying international law at Georgetown Institutes will be a helpful tool in following this dream of mine.
"Tim is rhetorician with a gift for argumentation and debate. He is also passionate about social justice, which I respect immensely. Tim's strong moral compass, along with his love of debate, argumentation, and strong writing skills make him a great candidate for the Georgetown Institutes: International Law program. Learning legal case studies, hearing from real lawyers, and learning the general basis of the legal profession will certainly help him hone his goals and will augment his talents."
This school was one of immense importance to me, and to my parents, as this was the year be began the journey into the college application process. This meant that I had to get everything up to scratch, grades, extracurricular, recommendations, college essays, and everything in between. I not only got my academics to the point where I was proud of them, but I truly enjoyed the connections I made with students and teachers this year. I am very excited for my senior year and can't wait to attend Georgetown Institutes: International Law this summer. I think, after seeing what I am capable of this year, I truly appreciate myself in a way that I haven't experienced in a long time.
