Audi's Story

My passion is medicine.

I discovered my passion for medicine five years ago when my mother was pregnant with my little brother. Whenever she told me she had an ultrasound, I would beg to come with her. During one of the appointments, I remember asking the ultrasound technician many questions: “What’s a caesarean section? How long will my mom need to stay in the hospital? What are anesthetics?” When we got home, I spent the rest of the day researching everything there was to know about the process of pregnancy. I started to realize that studying health care and helping others was something that I wanted to do in the future. The thought of being able to make a difference in someone's life drives me towards pursuing a career in the medical field.

Brown University's Pre-College Program will help me pursue my passion for medicine for countless reasons. I am planning to apply to Brown, so being able to take rigorous courses that are at the post-secondary level of understanding will prepare me for the future. I am looking forward to focusing in-depth on different aspects of medicine such as treatments and diagnosis for certain illnesses. Additionally, I can broaden my learning experience by taking courses that offer labs, excursions, and hands-on projects. The program will also allow me to meet a diverse group of students and instructors who are as driven and passionate about medicine as I am. The ability to interact and work with people directly excites me. Not to mention, these skills are vital when practicing medicine.

A Note from Mrs. Rowe, Audi's Teacher

Audi is pursuing her personal dream to attend Brown University to study medicine by dedicating herself to her academic studies - she is currently number 1 in her sophomore class. As a sophomore, course offerings are less open to choice, but when presented with the opportunity, Audi elected to enroll in Physics and stays after school each week to work on her IB Personal Project. Her dedication to her education is the way she works to overcome limited resources. She is a driven student who will do what it takes to be successful. She is comfortable in diverse environments and will be welcoming to others. Audi is organized and balanced in her approach to challenges and new experiences. She will benefit from being around other students who are as driven as she is.

My Summer of 2017

My summer experience at Brown University was truly an amazing one. I just want to start off by giving a huge thanks to everyone who has supported me throughout my whole journey. I couldn't have done this without your help, so I appreciate it more than anything. As I reflect back on my two weeks, I realized that I've grown so much not only academically, but also socially and mentally as well. In the classroom, we did an abundant amount of groupwork activities such as debates and presentations. From there I was able to learn a lot about the different aspects of pharmacology and also work with new peers. I also learned how to manage my time better, due to the fact that I was only given a couple of days to complete a huge assignment. It was through my class that I made most of my closest friends in the program. Many of them are from different parts of the world like Romania, China, and Indonesia, and I still keep in contact with them today. Outside of the classroom, I attended many activites and presentations led by Brown's Pre-College team that involved college preparation, music clubs, exploring Providence, and more. This experience has definitely made me grow into a more independent, thoughtful, and open-minded person. I can't thank you enough. All the love.

Summer 2017

This summer, I am planning to take the "Using Pharmacology to Help Us Study the Nervous System" course at Brown University's Pre-College program. I've always been interested in the study of drugs, so this course will definitely help me pursue further knowledge in Pharmacology.

I am eager to meet and work with new people inside and outside the course. I knew that I wanted to get into the Medical field from early on, so being able to interact with other students and professors who are just as passionate about Medicine as I am is truly exciting. The program will also prepare me for college, allowing me to become more independent and disciplined as a person. I can't thank you enough for giving me the opportunity to attend Summer@Brown. I genuinely appreciate all the support.
