My passion is science.
My passion for scientific research is undeniable. I remember being intrigued by medical documentaries as early as age ten. I was interested in medical mysteries and how doctors went to all lengths to solve them. It seemed like a puzzle just waiting to be played with, and with each stroke of genius a researcher would get one step closer to solving the bigger problem. After taking living environment I learned that I enjoyed learning about how the pieces fit together in the world around us. I also grew up around medical mysteries in my immediate family. For most of my sisters' lives, doctors were unable to identify what they were unable to speak or why they were clinically blind.
Eventually my older sister was diagnosed with a genetic disorder at age 14. It was upsetting that doctors were not able to diagnose her earlier, and I saw first hand how it affected my family. I hope to help crack the mysteries inflicting medical misery on others in the future. Researching these solutions and helping others is a passion that I want to create as my reality.
Jameelah is constantly asking questions to further her understanding of the material we learn about. She demonstrates eagerness in understanding how things work and why they work that way. She often will go above and beyond to learn more about a topic she is interested in by doing her own research during lunch or after-school on the computers we have available in our building.
She is a student who works hard at everything that she does. She is responsible, self-reflective, and a model student. Her drive to learn is apparent; she is always on-task, hands in her work on time, revises and edits her work, and does not give up until she is happy with the final product. Her determination to succeed and the compassion she holds in everything that she does, will undoubtedly make her a fantastic fit in your program.
I will attend Ithaca Summer college program this summer. As I prepare to go, I would like to thank everyone that donated and helped with my campaign. I'm looking forward to taking the psychology class that Ithaca offers since it will teach me more about a topic I enjoy. This program will help me prepare to attend college in the future, learn how to become more independent and meet people with similar passions. Thank you again for this opportunity.
