Dornell's Story

My passion is cross country. By attending US Sports Nike Cross Country Camp, I'll be able to further develop my cross country techniques and skills. This will allow me to be a better competitor throughout my cross country meets, bettering my chances of earning a college scholarship. I hope to utilize my cross country talents to earn an athletics scholarship when I go to college.

I am very pleased to recommend Dornell for US Sports Nike Cross Country Camps. I have had the pleasure of getting to know Dornell over the past year as his Steer for Student Athletes advisor. Dornell's dedication to both his academics and athletics is admirable. He exemplifies the characteristics and work ethic of someone above his age. Dornell is a very responsible and motivated student, athlete, and leader. He consistently sets goals for himself to succeed in his academic coursework, as well as improve his strength and speed in track events. Having the opportunity to participate in a summer program such as US Sports Nike Cross Country Camp will be of great benefit to Dornell.

Post camp

I’m glad I choose that camp, instead of searching for a sprinting camp. It was a fun and eccentric week. I left the camp with increased knowledge of track. The camp provided numerous speakers that went through hardships but still managed to make it. They provided massage sessions, which really helped with my groin problem. I was able to leave the camp with increased motivation, and a plan of sorts for my future.

Before camp

I’m not sure what to expect, but what I do know is that I’ll make the best of this experience. I’m a sprinter, so some might see doing cross country as unnecessary, i don’t want to attend this camp In order to get better at long distance races. I want to in order to extend my search for motivation. I also want to get back in shape, and stay in shape for the season.
