My passion is science.
I never really liked science or enjoyed math, but as time went on, I got so much better. Starting in the 5th grade, I loved science and math because it suddenly became like second nature. I was in 8th grade when I realized science and math was my passion. My favorite teacher, Ms. Ragan set up an experiment to dissect a frog. I was SO excited because it was my first time being able to do a real-life experiment that was advanced. This made me realize that I really enjoy this class and love hands-on learning experiences.
Attending Blueprint Summer at Stonehill for 1 week will help me explore my passion for science because I like the fact that it is more of a hands on learning environment and not just a group of kids sitting in a classroom just learning about crime scenes. This hands-on course allows us to use modern technology that real-world professionals use to solve crimes. This program is important to me because when I am accepted into Wishbone, I would have a head start in my career, that not every kid has an opportunity to do.
Kara is a student who I've seen overcome obstacles, and persevere through challenges through which most kids would not make it. Kara has a strong sense of curiosity, paired with an extreme attention to detail to which few students compare. I Throughout her four years of middle school, I saw Kara demonstrate her curious nature and sense of exploration in every single science experiment, lesson, demonstration, inquiry activity and self-designed lab. She has a fine eye for data collection, and a commitment to precision, that would be even more enhanced by getting to be a part of the Blueprint Summer program.
