My passions are drawing and illustration.
I was in Pre-K when I realized I was a creative child. During playtime, we would play with clay, which I really enjoyed, and we would play dress-up, which let me be anything I wanted to be, and I would also draw. I wasn't always a drawer, but I decided to give it a try since my other older siblings were doing it. When I was drawing, the other kids were telling me how great it looked; I should be an artist. My teacher agreed. And that made me feel good, like I had some sort of new talent. Throughout school, I kept drawing, and I kept getting the same type of compliments. I was known as the best artist in the school, and I still keep that title. This motivates me to want to start drawing as a job or career throughout my life.
Amari Ottley is a good candidate for the NYIT Graphic and Game Design Pe-College because she has a distinct passion for drawing, designing and creating! There are not too many young people who exemplify a certain amount of independence and self motivation that she embodies. She has a great spirit and eagerness to learn as well as grow in her passion. I believe her attending NYIT Graphic and Game Design Pre-College is perhaps the moment for which she has been created! She could benefit from such a distinguished program to enhance her skills in design and her social skills. This program could help her grow as an artist and as an individual. At Brooklyn Ascend High School (BAHS), we are new and growing in our Liberal Arts Curriculum and do not offer any Art classes/programs; as a result this program could be truly rewarding to a student like herself who is not being fulfilled with purpose.
I will be attending the wonderful, magnificent and super magical NYIT Graphic and Game Design Pre-College, which, I will admit, is actually pretty exciting. I am a little nervous though. Being around other talented artists does give me a little anxiety and makes me doubt myself, and plus I'll be all by myself...but of course, not for long. I feel that I will make enough friends to get me through this wonderful experience. And, I can't wait to draw. I want to know what it's like to design games and to do digital art because honestly, I've been sticking to traditional my entire life. This is a great opportunity, really. It will be a great addition for my college resume, which I'm sure will get me far. I really am grateful to be able to have such an amazing gift. I will put my little time here to good use.
Good luck
Make the most of this wonderful opportunity!
