Michael's Story

My passion is video games.

When I was a little kid, I played video games as a form of relaxation during weeks of difficult and stressful work. As I got older, I began to think more in-depth in what creates a video game. I have been amazed by how realistic some games felt. I have watched videos of developers explaining the process of producing a game, which is similar to the process of making a book or film. This inspired me to hopefully be involved in committing to and completing a video game.

When I first saw iD Tech Camp, my mid sparked with excitement. It could be a good experience to met young adults such as myself who want to be the next generation of developers. Plus, I've wanted to be a programmer ever since I was in the 9th grade. I even went to a club at my school that taught us coding languages like CSS and HTML.

A Note from Ms. Lim, Michael's Teacher

"As his History teacher last year, I saw firsthand how Michael's strong work ethic made him one of the most responsible and reliable students in his class. He consistently did well in History and in all of his classes. However, as his Debate teacher this year, it has been a true joy for me to see Michael grow into his own as he has followed his endless curiosity to become one of the most well-informed students in our school.

Michael would be an excellent candidate for this opportunity because of his complete willingness to try new things and his deep passion for video games. Michael has a clear and compelling vision for his future, one that involves the designing and creation of video games. He has taken advantage of every opportunity to study coding at our school, and does all he can to pursue his passion at home as well. Michael's interest in developing video games is somewhat limited by the few options to study computer science at our school, so an opportunity with iD Tech Camp would afford Michael a chance to begin realizing his amazing potential and begin forging a path towards a future career."

The Greatest Experience Ever

I would like to say FPS Game Design at NYU was awesome due to the wonderful staff and having epic experiences with my small class. First things first, I liked how most of the work my class created was all experimental and we as a group were able to critique our maps in a fashion that was similar to peer-editing in English. Plus, the FPS game Design group bonded so well over the course of the week that now I actually miss them till this day and hope to see them in the gaming industry in the future. Finally, the staff was very laid-back and allow us to experiment with our maps while presenting how to do it in a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. My group wasn't given a long lecture or a long lesson, we learned by ourselves and my teacher, named the Specialist in the camp, assisted us and brightened the mood every day of the week. If I was able to go back to learn more, I would. Thank you for making this possible.

Excited For ID Tech Camp

I`m so excited to go to camp to learn about how to program videogames. As a person who loves videogames and the developers, I enjoy the fun of completing objectives, doing some quests, and creating my own adventures. In addition, the videogame industry is one of the most joyous, rewarding, and well-paying jobs. When I saw the Bethesda Conference during E3, their showcase was the biggest accomplishment this year. In addition, Bethesda workers that were in the showcase were able to enjoy their loyal fans` cheers and their accomplishments in the past, like Fallout 3 and Dishonored. By having this career, I could produce games that could be enjoyable for any and all people, but I need to get more experience. Hopefully, this experience will be great and I'll be able to meet new people that have similar career goals.
